Work Brewing and distilling
Eckhart Beer Co
A Bavarian beer hall distilled through the clarity of Japanese architecture.
The interior for Eckhart Brewery is inspired by the warmth of traditional Bavarian beer halls, reinterpreted through the minimal lens of Japanese architecture.
Fermentation tanks are on view from the bar; the brewhouse is part of the room.
01 The assignment
House a production brewery and a public beer hall in one building, and give the brand a room that reads as crisp and modern while still feeling like a place to settle in with friends.
02 The design response
A distilled Bavarian design language that mirrors the clarity of Eckhart's beers: clean lines, natural materials and a focus on craftsmanship. Dark timber lattice screens wrap the stair, arched openings frame booth seating, long communal tables run beneath tall gridded windows, and the fermentation tanks sit on view behind the bar. Touches of antique tradition appear throughout while the atmosphere stays refined.
03 How it operates
The taproom bar faces the brewhouse so the process is part of the visit. Communal tables and booths suit both a casual afternoon and a full-house evening.
04 Materials and custom elements
Stained timber lattice, plaster, blackened steel, oak communal tables and benches, leather booth upholstery and paper lanterns.
